What Is the Matching Score?
The matching score is a score from 0 to 100 that measures the fit between your profile and a job listing. The higher the score, the better the listing matches your profile.
This score is calculated by our AI by analysing 5 weighted axes. Here is how each axis works.
Axis 1: Technical Skills
Weight: 35% of the total score.
The AI compares your declared skills with those required in the listing. It goes beyond exact matching:
- Synonyms — "React" = "React.js" = "ReactJS"
- Hierarchy — "TypeScript" implies "JavaScript"
- Ecosystem — "AWS" includes EC2, S3, Lambda if mentioned
- Transferable skills — "Vue.js" is close to "React"
Axis 2: Experience
Weight: 25% of the total score.
The AI analyses three dimensions of your experience:
- Total years — Compared to the minimum required in the listing
- Sector relevance — Experience in the same industry
- Company size — Startup → Corporate is a factor
The experience score is not linear: having 5 years when 3 are required yields a better score than 10 years (slight overqualification = penalty).
Axis 3: Industry Sector
Weight: 15% of the total score.
The AI classifies sectors by proximity:
| Your sector | Strong match | Medium match | Weak match |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fintech | Banking, Insurance | Tech, Consulting | Industry, Healthcare |
| SaaS | Tech, E-commerce | Fintech, Media | Industry, Energy |
| Pharma | Biotech, Medtech | Chemicals, Research | Finance, Retail |
Axis 4: Location
Weight: 10% of the total score.
The AI takes your geographical situation into account:
- Same city — Maximum score
- Cross-border commuter — Slight penalty (offset if G permit is mentioned)
- Relocation required — Greater penalty
- Remote possible — Cancels the location factor
Axis 5: Seniority
Weight: 15% of the total score.
The AI compares your seniority level with the one required:
- Exact match (Senior → Senior) — Maximum score
- One level below (Mid → Senior) — Medium score (promotion possible)
- One level above (Staff → Senior) — Slight penalty (overqualification)
- Two levels apart — Low score
- 90-100 — Excellent match, apply immediately
- 75-89 — Good match, application recommended
- 60-74 — Decent match, worth considering
- < 60 — Weak match, prioritise other listings
